Morphed Mango Turtle

As part of learning a bit more of the colouring theory we had to make draw a animal and morph it with a fruit. I first wanted to do this with a hedgehog and have the spikes as grapes. I later though that this might be a bit too easy because the grapes wouldn't morph at all with the hedgehog.

So after a bit of searching, and not wanting to do the cliche ones like a kiwi with a kiwi, I found a turtle. And I thought to that that would be fun to do with a mango as a shell.

With my own pencil colours I wanted to see which could fit in with my drawing. So on a piece of paper I made with each colour I might use a line and wrote next to it it's name. On another piece of paper I tried blending the chosen colours with each other using my feather tool.

To make it a bit easier for myself to draw the turtle I first Photoshopped my eventual idea. This looked good so I used that as a reference with my drawed turtle (down here the photoshopped version).

Like I said before I'd choose the right colours and mixed them together. Since a turtle is a sea animal I choose to make my turtle in the ocean. So this meant that the background colour would also be blue. And since the ocean gets darker the lower you go, I thought I'd use different types of dark blue to demonstrate this as well.

As for the mango, this would be mostly orange. But as I've done my research I also see that mango's have a bit more yellow colour on the outsides of it's cubes. So I thought it'd be a good idea to blend these two colours together. And since some mango's aren't ripe you'd also still see some green, which is also on the bottom of the mango.

While I was colouring the turtle, I thought it would make a bit more sense, if also some of the turtles spots were mango. Since it's a morph it'd make more sense.
